TORONTO, ON – Smartricity Motors Inc. today announced the grand opening of its new Americas Manufacturing facility in New York, marking a significant milestone in the company's expansion strategy and commitment to supporting domestic content requirements for United States solar energy projects.
The state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot facility will produce the company's flagship SolarPro® line of gear motors, specifically designed for single-axis and dual-axis solar tracker applications. The facility is expected to create over 150 new jobs in the region and produce up to 100,000 motor units annually at full capacity.
Meeting Domestic Content Requirements
"With the Inflation Reduction Act placing increased emphasis on domestic manufacturing, our New York facility positions Smartricity to help our customers qualify for valuable tax incentives while maintaining the quality and reliability they expect from our products," said Mike Cowen, Chief Operating Officer of Smartricity Motors.
The facility features advanced manufacturing capabilities including:
- Automated assembly lines with real-time quality monitoring
- In-house gear cutting and precision machining
- Comprehensive end-of-line testing with serialized traceability
- ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system
Faster Delivery, Local Support
In addition to supporting domestic content compliance, the new facility will significantly reduce lead times for North American customers. With strategic inventory positioning and regional logistics partnerships, Smartricity can now offer 2-4 week delivery for standard products, down from 8-12 weeks when shipping from overseas facilities.
"Our customers have been asking for more local manufacturing capacity, and we're excited to deliver," Cowen added. "The New York facility also houses an applications engineering team that can provide hands-on support for custom integration projects."
